What is Coffee Shop BGC?

Coffee Shop BGC is a guide site, not a cafe operator. It maps 98 cafes in and around BGC on the home page, then sorts them into guides by area, for specialty coffee, for work and for first-time visitors.

Where do the BGC cafe details come from?

Cafe names, areas, streets and tags come from OpenStreetMap: 98 rows from the pull of 18 September 2026, after six listings Google Maps marked permanently closed were left out. Star ratings, review counts and most opening hours come from Google Maps, checked on 6 October 2026 for the 65 cafes we could match.

For two cafes we also read the cafe's own page for hours on 19 September 2026; both now have Google Maps hours, which the table shows. When sources disagree on hours, the table shows Google's. Cupcakes by Sonja is one case: its store page listed 10 am to 8 pm when we read it, while Google Maps listed 10 am to 10 pm daily on 6 October 2026.

The star averages are Google's, shown with their review count and date. We add no score of our own, and no cafe pays for a place or a position. Missing details show as not listed or "No rating found".

How is the data checked before it reaches a page?

Each Google Maps result had to match the cafe by name and location. 29 rows found no match, and we set aside four more where the Google place was a different business (a clothing flagship, a polo club and a plant nursery at another address) or had been renamed, so another place's rating never stands in for a cafe.

The six listings Google marked permanently closed are left out of every table and count, and the two it marked temporarily closed stay listed with that label and no open-now status. Opening hours are read strictly: if a line can't be read exactly, that cafe gets no open or closed status rather than a guess.

Every count, median and distance in the text is recomputed from the data each time the site is built, so the prose can't drift from the tables. While doing that on 29 September 2026 we found two OpenStreetMap 24/7 tags that Google's hours contradict, The Fat Seed and But first coffee, and rewrote those pages to show both.
